Technically high airspeeds will blow one out, but its a gamble, not fast enough and the airflow just make the fire burn and spread faster. But for fighters, or if you feel you cant ride it out, you can try to dive. Generally, in a heavy 2-engine or higher, I just ride it out. Once that is done, go into Vritual cockpit and set as level flight as you can with a 3-degree down pitch to maintian a slow speed glide while the fire burns itself out.
